I stress a lot about how to go no poo. My philosophy is to avoid the harmful chemicals in the commercial toiletries.
That is the reason I use a lot of stuff from my pantry to clean my hair and body. The popular ones include – baking soda, coconut milk, and apple cider vinegar.
No poo is the term for the use of raw stuff to wash your hair. That is why it means a big NO to commercial stuff that has awful chemicals.
When there is some involvement of soap in hair care products. Then, they become low poo. A low poo shampoo recipe involves the use of soaps through the process of saponification.
The purest of the saponification process creates a castile soap. The addition of natural ingredients along with castile soap makes a low poo shampoo. Such shampoos clean the hair and scalp. But they do not turn the scalp itchy since they do not over dry.
In one of my articles, I mentioned a lot of DIY shampoo without castile soap recipes as well. They are a little time-consuming to prepare but give some of the best results.
For those of you who cannot dish out time or energy to make shampoo from scratch. I created an article with a list of low poo commercial shampoos. Those shampoos lack parabens, sulfates, and mineral derivatives. Thus, they neither clog the scalp nor disrupt hormonal activities. Plus, they are convenient to buy and use.
On similar lines, there are a number of ways to adopt a no poo conditioner in your lifestyle. But if you are not inclined to make one from scratch. Then, for all you lazy folks, I have a low poo conditioner list ready for you.
What is a low poo conditioner?
A low poo conditioner lacks ingredients such as –
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Mineral derivatives
But it is not a typical DIY one made from household ingredients as well.
It contains natural plant-based extracts along with certified organic preservatives. That is how they get a considerable shelf life.
Considering these qualities, I cherry-picked a few commercial low poo conditioners. I have made them into a list that will be useful for your next shopping quest for a gentle conditioner.

In Conclusion
It is pertinent to follow up washed hair with a conditioner. Else you experience dry and unmanageable hair. It is also important to keep a tab on the ingredients listed in your conditioner.
Most of the commercial conditioners have mineral oil and other petroleum derivatives. The inclusion of these ingredients not only plays havoc on our bodies. But they are also detrimental to our environment.
It is a blessing that a lot of plant-based conditioners work well without causing any harm to the hair. Though it is not necessary to make them yourself. You can use store bought conditioners that use plant extracts in their products.
